PEEK Material

What is PEEK material?

Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) is an engineering plastic. As an excellent wear-resistant and friction-reducing material, PEEK offers superior load-bearing and wear-resistant properties compared to polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). It is suitable for unlubricated, heavy-duty, low-speed, and complex environments, and is expected to replace traditional metal materials in the future.

PEEK not only possesses high-temperature resistance but also excellent mechanical strength and dimensional stability, wear resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, electrical properties, environmental friendliness, and hydrolysis resistance. It has applications in aerospace, automotive manufacturing, electronics, electrical engineering, medical and energy power, machinery, and automotive coatings.

PEEK manufacturing technology

PEEK CNC machining

PEEK CNC machining

PEEK is one of the most common and mature high-end engineering plastics used in CNC machining. It has good dimensional stability, is not easily deformed, and maintains excellent machining accuracy, making it suitable for machining high-precision plastic parts. Examples include bushings, sealing rings, gears, valve cores, and medical components made of PEEK, all of which are CNC machined.

HDPE Injection Molding

PEEK Injection Molding

PEEK is a thermoplastic, ideally suited for injection molding. It can flow, be injected, and cool to set when heated to 360–420°C.

PEEK injection molding is a high-temperature process, requiring mold temperatures of 150–180°C and high-temperature resistant equipment. For high-volume production of PEEK parts with moderate precision requirements, injection molding is a suitable option. Examples include large-volume production of gears, bushings, valve seats, connectors, and medical accessories.

PEEK 3D printing

PEEK is the most mature and commonly used high-temperature, high-performance plastic, suitable for 3D printing. However, it cannot be printed using ordinary FDM printing technology and requires a high-temperature resistant industrial 3D printer. The nozzle temperature needs to be greater than 380℃, and the printing environment needs to be 120–180℃. It is suitable for PEEK parts with complex structures and internal flow channels, such as those used in medical implants and lightweight, small-batch aerospace parts.
