What is Inconel 718?
Inconel 718 is a precipitation-hardening nickel-based superalloy, also commonly known as Nickel Alloy 718, UNS N07718, and GH4169. It uses nickel as its main component, with added elements such as chromium, iron, niobium, molybdenum, titanium, and aluminum. It is strengthened through γ′(Ni₃(Al,Ti)) and γ″(Ni₃Nb) precipitation phases.

How to machine inconel 718?
inconel 718 cnc machining
Inconel 718 CNC machining includes CNC milling and CNC turning. Because Inconel 718 has high hardness at room temperature, the γ’ (precipitated phases of aluminum and titanium) reinforcing phase in the alloy can further increase the hardness during machining. Therefore, tool wear will increase and efficiency will decrease during machining.
Inconel 718 casting
Inconel 718, due to its excellent corrosion resistance and high-temperature properties, is used in irregularly shaped structural components in industries such as aerospace and petroleum, thus requiring casting processes. While Inconel 718 casting is technically challenging, these challenges can be effectively overcome by optimizing the casting process, controlling the alloy composition, precisely adjusting the cooling rate, and employing appropriate post-processing techniques, resulting in the production of high-quality castings.
3D printing inconel 718
3D printing (or additive manufacturing) Inconel 718 is a cutting-edge technology that can efficiently and precisely produce high-performance metal parts with complex shapes. It is particularly useful for the expensive material Inconel 718, which can significantly reduce material costs. It also enables rapid prototyping and small-batch production of complex parts and is widely used in aerospace, energy, automotive and other high-tech fields.
Inconel 718 stamping
Inconel 718 is a nickel-based superalloy. Stamping requires overcoming the characteristics of high strength, high hardness and work hardening. It is necessary to control the forming temperature and optimize the die parameters. It is mainly used in aerospace engine blades, high-temperature pressure-bearing components in nuclear power, and irregularly shaped brackets and gaskets in high-temperature valves and other fields.
Inconel 718 forging
Inconel 718 is a nickel-based superalloy. Forging it requires overcoming its high strength, high hardness, and work hardening properties. Forging temperature, deformation amount, and cooling rate must be controlled to prevent internal cracking. It is primarily used in aerospace engine discs, nuclear power plant flanges and bolts, and high-temperature components for deep-sea drilling platforms.
